What Is Pelvic Floor Therapy?
The pelvic floor is a group of muscles that supports the bladder, bowel, and reproductive organs. When these muscles are too weak, too tight, or uncoordinated, it can lead to a range of symptoms including urinary incontinence or urgency, pelvic pain or pressure, pain during intercourse, postpartum recovery challenges, bowel dysfunction, and pre- and post-surgical pelvic rehabilitation. Pelvic floor therapy uses targeted exercises, manual techniques, and biofeedback to restore normal pelvic muscle function.
Who Can Benefit?
Pelvic floor dysfunction affects both men and women at every stage of life. It is especially common in women during pregnancy and postpartum, after gynecological surgery, and during menopause. Men may experience pelvic floor issues after prostate surgery or as a result of chronic pelvic pain.
What to Expect
Your first visit begins with a thorough history and assessment. Treatment is always performed with your comfort and consent as the top priority. Sessions may include manual therapy techniques, strengthening and relaxation exercises, biofeedback training, and education on posture, breathing, and lifestyle habits that support pelvic health. All treatment takes place in a private room with a dedicated therapist.
